WQA and Cilin: the Strictest Requirement, the Highest Standard
Threatened by pollution, drinking water safety and health has become another widely concerned issue in recent years. A lot of people buy water purification equipment for the sake of their physical health. But who is to assess the actual effect of water purification equipments? The author takes the highest standard certification organization of water treatment products -- WQA (Water Quality Association) for example, in order to eliminate the confusion of the majority of consumers.
The Water Quality Association (WQA) is an international not-for-profit association for the residential, commercial, and industrial water treatment industry. Its global headquarters and core laboratories are located in Lisle, Illinois. WQA represents more than 2,700 member companies around the globe. In respects of government relations and technical business, WQA is always an important participant. For example, WQA takes part in formulating standards, establishing unified plumping code, employing professional personnel with certificates, cooperating with Public Health Department and US Environmental Agency, and communicating with international governmental agencies including Ministry of Public Health of China, laboratories of Center for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, etc. In addition, WQA also manages Water Quality Research Foundation formed in 1949, and sponsors independent research organizations.
Then who can certificate the “authority certification”? WQA is certificated by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Standards Council of Canada (SCC). ANSI and SCC are standard authorized institutions of United States and Canada. They will keep audit WQA each year, to ensure WQA strictly perform their established standards in the process of certification and completely eradicate any biased possibility during the process product certifications. ANSI and SCC is external supervision organizations which guarantee the authority of WQA.
The certification of WQA involves multiple links, including: standards, testing, certification, and continuous supervision after the certification. In terms of NSF/ANSI’s standard series, related equipment inspection involves the following aspects: material security, structural integrity, performance, the function of product information. Certification and testing require a thorough evaluation which puts forward strict requirements for the product and the content of each part, and emphasize the design of the product at the same time.
After the certification, WQA also carry out plenty of regular audit work, including the audit of manufacturer production sites, the subsequent test of products, retesting products by using certification standards and testing methods, and checking out whether products can still pass the test.
